Opaque with a dark brooding nose. Great, if somewhat hidden, depth of fruit and excellent balance: the fruit-acid-tannin triangle is textbook perfect. Very tight now, this is a keeper for sure. Try to avoid touching it for three to five years. Some day it will drink like a $50 bottle. Will keep till 2015. (5/1/1999)

Good dark red-ruby color. High-toned aromas of violet, dried flowers and spearmint. Ripe, juicy red berry and dried flower flavors given clarity by sound acids. Intriguing peppery note. Quite long on the aftertaste, with firm, mouthcoating tannins. Very suave Chianti. (Jan/Feb '99)

Robert Parker:
Still available, the 1995 Chianti Classico Riserva is beginning to reveal secondary aromas of cedar wood, smoke-singed herbs, and new saddle leather. Spicy, with hard tannin (typical of 1995), medium body, and very good to excellent fruit density, it will drink well for 7-8 years. (08/2000)
