2014 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Monfortino Riserva
The Monfortino was born then as wine produced only in great vintages, from the choice of the best grapes bought in the vineyards of Serralunga and Monforte (the latter city is still on debate), and vinified in a"dedicated" manner. First became popular abroad than in Italy, which sold especially to doctors and university professors from Turin and Milan: in some of the most historic wineries, by the end of the '50, appears the format of 12.5 l of Monfortino - the legendary quarter-Brenta - reserved for the finest wines.
Ruby red color with garnet highlights.
The fragrances emerge in clear sequence showing a diverse range of smells. Start with ripe fruit, cherries, plums, blackberry then hints of mushrooms, truffles, well-integrated hints of chocolate, hints of sweet licorice, leather and earth.
Mouth caressed by silky tannins supported by a precious minerality and well-balanced with an alcohol not overwhelming. Finish embellished by the return of odorous sensations.
