2016 Leah Jørgensen Le Coeur du Tour Rain Gamay Willamette Valley
This Gamay Noir is not just for Thanksgiving. Oh, but it will rock your Thanksgiving dinner table. It is no Nouveau. But, wait - there's more! This wine has incredible texture and complexity. It has a gorgeous magenta jewel tone in the glass, it is loaded with bright, ripe cherries, cassis, and cranberries, distinctive black pepper notes, it has notes of Madagascar vanilla and amarena cherry liquor, it is tart and yet smooth, rich, juicy, plush, muscular (not in a power lifting way, but more like a yoga warrior - streamlined) and intense.
Serve with your Thanksgiving meal (the obvious choice), but also classic picnic and bistro foods; consider charcuterie such as patés, terrines, rillettes and saucisson sec and with white-rinded cheeses such as Brie and Camembert (provided they’re not overripe); roasted chicken or game fowl; coq au vin; steak frites; grilled pork, lamb or veal; pork adobo; or, Korean fried chicken.
