2017 Cellier des Dames Mercurey Blanc ‘Isabelle de Portugal’
Named for Isabelle de Portugal whose marriage to Phillip the Good of Burgundy enabled her to exert quite a lot of influence on the region, her wine, all 100 cases of it, is a gorgeous, lemon-infused white Burgundy with gorgeous acidity to go along with its mid-weight texture and ultra-clean, refined Asian pear, lemon verbena-like flavors. This is everything we love from the whites of this appellation- Chassagne-like richness in a minor key and lift and verve to spare. Very highly recommended as a white you can drink now, keep if you like and serve with your next piece of beautifully grilled fish or chicken. Viva la Dames de Bourgogne!
