2018 Chateau Lassegue, St. Emilion Grand Cru 

While Cabernet Franc comprises only 35% of the blend here (the rest being Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon), it plays a very important part in this supremely elegant Right Bank Bordeaux from Saint Emilion.  The Seillan family aims for the supreme expression of elegance in their wines and the Cab Franc supplies a pretty, lacy violet-like nuance to the wine’s dark plum and mineral notes.  Sumptuous, complex and silky on the palate, this is some very sophisticated juice!  Drink now because you can, but the 2018 Lassegue is built for the very long haul as well.  It’s really a fine value.
