The wheel spins, and we win again! This time, it’s the longtime California importer of Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron who has decided to call it a day—and we’re thrilled to help clear out his cellar. Confuron’s iconic wines are notoriously hard to find, so it’s a double bonus to grab current winemaker Louis Confuron’s Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Fleurières at such an attractive price. With deep Burgundian roots and nine hectares of enviable vines in stellar sites like Les Boudots in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Romanee Saint-Vivant and Les Beaux Monts in Vosne, this domaine has genuine pedigree. While Confuron produces exceptional wines across the board, the Nuits bottlings are where his style shines brightest.

Les Fleurirèes is a charming vineyard in the southern part of the appellation, adjoining the famed Premier Cru Les Pruliers. Though Nuits can lean rustic, this cuvée perfectly expresses the Confuron ethos: elegance and aromatics over heft and muscle. Louis harvests early for higher natural acidity and a more graceful texture. There’s a touch of whole-cluster fermentation to lift the fruit and just a hint of new oak to add texture and spice, making this a seductive rather than a forceful Burgundy. Expect cooler, blue-fruited tones accented by notes of cinnamon, star anise, and sage. On the palate, it’s mid-weight, growing rounder and deeper as it opens in the glass. It’s equally at home with roast lamb or grilled salmon—an ideal red Burgundy for the next five to six years.
