Carl Von Schubert Maximin Grunhaus Riesling Monopol 2019
Weighing in at 11.5% ABV and about 12 grams per liter RS, the Maximin Grunhaus Riesling Monopol is a swoon-worthy, simply gorgeous white packed with penetrating Riesling peach, green herb (wintergreen, tarragon, lemon verbena, basil) and lime peel aromas wrapped around the textbook Maximin core of mineral-driven acidity. The very fine 2019 vintage has also endowed the wine with an extra layer of fresh green melon fruit that takes it up yet another notch in terms of drinkability and balance. Just off dry, it’s a very fine wine for your Thanksgiving menu or with just about any other kind of fare you can imagine. If it’s packed with chopped fresh herbs, smoked salmon or trout, spicy Singapore noodles or even, served bracingly cold, with a couple of dozen fresh West Coast oysters and a citrus based mignonette, all the better! Buy this by the case and you’ll be a happy Riesling drinker for many years to come. So delicious!
