The vines, a mixture of mainly Tempranillo with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, are over 40-years old and have long been bottled as an oak-aged Crianza, although, legally, it could easily qualify as Gran Reserva.   Aged for three years in American oak and then aged in bottle an additional five, there are few wineries in the world that can afford to keep their wines out of the market this long!  A shimmering ruby red, the nose is that only-in-Rioja melange of smoky mineral, iodine, mint and black licorice, all swirling around a core of chocolate-and-vanilla cherry fruit.  Elegant and perfectly ready to drink, its food-friendly brightness and Burgundy-weight palate makes it a dazzling partner to all kinds of fare.
