2015 Aldo Conterno Barolo Romirasco
The ’15 Barolo Romirasco weds opulence with energy, intensity with focus, and lushness with liveliness--it’s a wonderful wine that celebrates the ripeness of its vintage with polish and sophistication. Luscious red and blue fruits burst from the glass, framed with peppery spices, white truffles, tarry earth, smoky minerals, new leather and potpourri. Velvety tannins cling to the cheeks as the wine revels in its kaleidoscopic bevy of notes and builds to a mineral-inflected, satisfying finish. You can drink this wine with decanting--or cellar and drink for decades to come. Crafted from fruit grown on vines aged 50 to 55 years old in mineral-rich soils, grapes ferment for about 30 days; the wine ages for about 28 months in Slavonian oak casks, followed by rest in bottle before release. About 500 cases made.
