PRIMA Notes:  The Chardonnay is, as it always has been, a suave, Burgundian styled masterpiece.  It’s immaculately farmed to maintain its natural freshness and the fact that it’s kept from undergoing malo-lactic keeps it even more so. Even though it’s fermented in wood, about half of which is new, and aged on its lees for 10 months, it’s a remarkably clean, fresh wine that’s full-bodied and rich on the palate but, at the same time, light on its feet with a chiffonade of lemon verbena accenting its tropical feeling, Meursault-like fruit.  The finish is long and siphoned through slate making it the perfect pairing for Dungeness, lobster, scallops and many other kinds of richer fare from the sea or farm. And, boy, can this wine age!  And, as much as I like to goose Lily about the price, it remains one of the best deals in top quality Chardonnay on the market.
