Historically one never turned to the Macon for rich, character-filled white Burgundies.  They looked further up the Cotes to find them.  But a new generation of vintner and a little help from a changing climate has turned appellations like Saint-Veran into, perhaps, the second coming of Meursault!  This a wine with all the buttery brioche richness you could ask for in a delicious white Burg, yet it still sits on a frame of granite-chalk mineral which you’ll note on the finish.  We were extremely pleased to make the acquaintance of this sold gold value.  Warning, though.  Those looking for a leaner, more traditionally styled Macon might shake their head and wish for those olden days to return but, for the rest of us, this is an excellent way to spend $20 on a white Burgundy!
