Another set of absolutely stellar Barolos from this intriguing vintage, it cannot be denied that Chiara Boschis is on an incredible roll! Chiara’s brother Giorgio and niece Beatrice are now in control of the cellar while Chiara is free to be in her most happy place, lovingly tending her organically-farmed vineyards (and her spoiled-rotten chickens). Quantities are again low this year, but the Boschis clan made some of their most regal, elegant and stylish wines ever. Once again the Cannubi is ravishing while the Mosconi provides a counterpoint with Monforte’s iron-y power on vivid display. The Via Nuova, as always, shows the loving touch of Giorgio, who has artfully assembled the characters of some of Barolo’s top vineyards into a wonderfully integrated whole. This is a fine set of wines.
