Darting’s gorgeous Riesling from the Pfalz in Germany is just a beautiful wine.  While not exactly sweet, it’s not dry either.  Call it ‘halbtroken’ or half-dry. There is a pleasing ‘roundness’ to the palate that just seems to help it go with everything!  Or nothing, if that’s how you roll.  Here are Riesling’s lovely aromatics- that peach pit, that apricot, that blood orange and that wintergreen essence, all wrapped up in a medium weight wine that just pumps out the flavors!  Weighing in at all of 11% alcohol, this is the kind of white you need in the fridge at all times, unscrewed, probably already half gone, and ready for action at any moment.  Sautéing a nice sole meunière?  Toss a splash of this into the sauce and drink a glass while you wait for it to finish.  And the fact that it comes in a liter bottle means that there’s a lot more to go around!  The Minister of Value endorses this with two enthusiastic thumbs up and I just noticed him sneaking two bottles into a bag at his desk to go home to Ellen!
