With vines in the Perno and Castelletto MGAs in Monforte d’Alba and cellars near Novello, three young friends have some great raw material with which to work and fashion their Nebbiolo from younger vines in these excellent terroirs. ‘Snart’—one of the great names for a wine—is a Piemontese phonetic twist on the word nebbia (fog) and, appropriately, refers to Nebbiolo itself.

Aged only in steel to preserve its purity and fruit, this wine is simply delicious: as savory and aromatic as Nebbiolo gets. Consider it a primer on all the grape’s best attributes. I already know one case is coming home with me for those evenings when pasta, meat, or cheese is on the table—and it just has to be Nebbiolo.
