The bluest of Bandol blue chips have also arrived. Can you believe Bastide Blanche, one of the most venerable of all producers in Bandol is half the price of Domaine Tempier? That probably won’t stop you from getting some Tempier, though. I know it won’t stop me. I have room in my cellar for both. Neither of these two need introductions here as you’ve been partaking of both here at PRIMA since I started here and that was in 1994! Both of these are classics and, in 2023, a little ‘cooler’ and even more classic than has been the case over these past warmer vintages. That bodes well for their long term cellaring possibilities as well. We all know there’s nothing better than a magnum of Bandol Rose two or three Thanksgivings after the harvest, and if it’s one of these two, well, bring on the big bird. In the meantime, drink these all year round but remember, they’ll always taste just that much better if you cook for them. The arrival of these two are sure signs that summer is finally here!
