2023 Marisa Cuomo Costa d'Amalfi Rosato
Made from half the Campanian Piedirosso grape (called in Amalfi Per‘e Palummo) and half dark, spicy Aglianico, it’s more a coppery salmon color than a bright pink, and brings with it a lovely set of salty seaside aromatics including yellow cherry, pomegranate, blood orange, wild fennel (in abundance), beach scrub and, of course, Amalfi lemon. There is a broad hint of sea spray and petrichor mineral that will transport you to one of the Amalfi Coast’s many beachside restaurants where you will be, no doubt, dining on things like grilled tuna steaks in Calabrian chili brodo or fresh mozzarella grilled between lemon leaves. It’s drinking perfectly now and will continue to do so over the next few years.

Falstaff, 91 points: Rich salmon pink with orange nuances. Delicate bouquet with notes of thyme, blood orange and some cassis. On the palate it shows with a beautiful arc of tension, light grip and precise fruit core, juicy onto the persistent finish.
