Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais has adorned the tables of wine lovers and restaurateurs for years because it is one of the very first wines that Kermit Lynch began importing when he first started bringing wine into the Bay Area. The property itself, located in the village of Le Breuil, boasts a family history back to the year 1512. The estate, located in the southwestern region of the Beaujolais appellation, is currently under the stewardship of siblings, Ghislaine and Stephane Dupeuble. They are continuing the family tradition of crafting authentic wines from the granite, clay and limestone soils that are present in the best vineyard sites, with some of their vineyards being between 50 and 100 years old.

Domaine Dupeuble employs natural, eco-friendly practices wherever and whenever possible, both in their vineyards and in the cellar. Their minimalist approach guarantees the best and brightest expression of Gamay, the mainstay grape variety of the region. The estate has grown considerably since the early days, now around 100 hectares, and their portfolio includes a Beaujolais Blanc, a Beaujolais Nouveau and a special release called “Cuvée 1512”, a wine from 80-year-old vines, planted on schist soil. Still, their primary bottling, featured here, is an amazing wine as well as a fantastic deal. It displays the generous dollop of seductive fruit you expect from Gamay but has surprising depth and richness, rivaling the more serious crus of the appellation, like Morgon or Moulin-à-Vent. Highly recommended as your everyday, go-to red for casual enjoyment or your dining table.
