The just-arrived 2024 Rocca di Montegrossi Rosato is a phenomenal wine (and would be in any color!), says Frank. It’s his personal favorite of all the wonderful Roses we have featured so far this year. He says it can stand proudly next to any of the other ‘serious’ pinks we stock, and given its ridiculously low price, it’s a phenomenal bargain to boot. And we all know Frank can appreciate a bargain! Together with a touch of Merlot, Montegrossi’s Rosato is made with lightly pressed Sangiovese and a small portion of juice bled off from the vats of just-crushed red. It’s fermented at low temperature and aged for a few months in a tank with its lees. It’s a Rosato with a great depth of flavor without sacrificing any brightness or delicacy, making it a fantastic choice to serve with a wide variety of foods- anything from grilled shrimp to roast chicken, or as far as your imagination will take you.
