Bordiga Occitan London Dry Gin
One of our favorite Piemontese producers, Bordiga has been quietly crafting excellent vermouths, amari, and herbal spirits at the foot of the Alps since 1888. Founded by Turin bartender and herbalist Pietro Bordiga, the distillery moved to nearby Cuneo so he could work closer to the alpine botanicals that define the region’s drinking culture. To this day, many of the herbs used in Bordiga’s spirits are still foraged by hand in the Occitan Alps, then individually macerated and distilled in the distillery’s historic copper still using traditional methods.
Their Occitan London Dry Gin is among Italy’s oldest gin recipes, dating to around 1900 and built on wild juniper harvested in the Maritime Alps. The botanical bill is intentionally restrained—juniper, angelica, cardamom, citrus peel, and a closely guarded alpine ingredient—letting the mountain herbs and vivid juniper character shine.
Bright, crisp, and deeply aromatic, it’s a gin that feels unmistakably alpine: fresh juniper, citrus zest, subtle spice, and a long, clean finish. Beautiful in a Martini with a twist, but if you want the full Bordiga experience, try it in a Negroni with their own vermouth and bitters—a rare case where every bottle in the drink comes from the same historic Piedmont distillery.
(And yes—if you’re Piemonte-heads like we are, Bordiga is dangerously easy to love across the whole lineup.)
