Buffalo Trace Distillery produces very limited amounts of a Wheat Recipe and Rye Recipe Bourbons in a longstanding partnership with the Chicago Rabbinical Council.  The Wheat Recipe is made with the same high quality grains as W.L. Weller Bourbon Whiskey and aged in specifically designated Kosher barrels. Although not ‘kosher for Passover,’ in order to avoid a conflict over Jewish ownership over Passover, these barrels were sold to a non-Jewish Buffalo Trace executive in a ceremony witnessed by a representative from the cRc. After aging for seven years, the Wheat Recipe was bottled at 94 proof after ensuring the bottling lines were cleaned beforehand and that no contact was made with non-Kosher spirits. It was released just after Passover.  We loved its subtle sweetness, building complexity and lovely mouthfeel.  The same process as above goes for the Rye Recipe but it follows, instead, the recipe for Buffalo Trace.  This is a balanced, smooth style of Rye with amazing complexity.  Perfect for that next Old Fashioned!  We love both of these and they have an impressive national following as well.  The Wheat, in particular, is very limited.
