Guy Charlemagne

NV Champagne Guy Charlemagne Blanc de Blancs Reserve

$61.99

100% Chardonnay, 8 g/l

Always a crowd pleaser, this 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay has classic proportions with a polished texture and excellent minerality in the background. Real class here! ★★★

Indeed, a crowd-pleaser! Even though it’s all Chardonnay, it is rounder and richer on the palate than you might expect. The best all-rounder in the tasting, at $50, this is definitely case-worthy! ★★★ JR

James Suckling, 95 points: Restrained citrus notes, particularly fresh, with lime, chalk powder and tarte tatin pastry. Medium-bodied, tight palate that’s super-zesty, with silky, persistent mousse and a polished, mineral finish full of salinity. Elegant and tight. Drinkable now, despite the exuberance, though there’s potential for aging.

Wine Enthusiast, 93 points: This Champagne is made exclusively from the Charlemagne holdings in grand cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs. With the classic steely edge that is balanced by a softer dosage, the wine is both fruity and structured. The bottling is ready although it is sure to develop some delicious mature flavors.

Wine Spectator, 92 points: Fresh and focused, with a panoply of flavors—ripe fruit notes of mango, tangy quince and tangerine, joined by a minerally sublayer of smoke, stone and spice. This shows firm structure and intensity, but the overall juiciness of the acidity makes this very appealing right now.
