PRIMA Notes:  Farming sustainably, with a push toward organic viticulture in the offing, his Chardonnay vineyards, ranging in age from 5 years to 80, thrive in the clay and limestone soil of the Maconnais, extracting great minerality and structure to support the complex fruit aromas and flavors of fresh apples, citrus zest and ripe stone fruits.  The entire package wraps up with a brilliant, long-lasting finish.  A couple of months ago, we featured Romauld Petit’s Bourgogne Blanc and it was quickly scooped up by our savvy, bargain-hunting clientele.  When presented with his Saint-Veran, we did not hesitate to jump on board and grab all we could; unfortunately, a mere 6 cases.  Don’t let this opportunity to stock up on an amazingly affordable ‘white Burgundy’ that punches way above its weight class.  Serve it throughout the holiday season and tell all your guests that it’s Puligny-Montrachet, which might very well be a compliment to a lot of Pulignys out there.
