Lastly, and this is one I am personally careful about because I have been known to like it a little too much, is Poli’s delightful and delicious Sarpa, a Grappa aged for four years in small French oak barrels before bottling.  This is ‘recreational’ Grappa at its finest- delicious after a meal with good friends and a few nuts (or nutty friends), some dried fruit and a little aged cheese.  Jacopo Poli is, of course, one of the highest profile, top quality distillers in Italy and their distinctive bottles grace all the best back bars in the country!
